Super Smash Bros. Brawl is the next entry in the mega-popular Smash Bros. series and will appear on the Nintendo Wii console. This fighting game follows its predecessors Super Smash Bros. Melee on the Nintendo Gamecube and the original on the Nintendo 64. The game, whose release date will be sometime in 2007, is one of the most anticipated video games of the year. The most exciting new feature of the series is its inclusion of online multiplayer, which, for the first time, will allow players all over the world to battle each other.
Super Smash Bros. is famous for its integration of the various Nintendo licenses. This includes characters, stages, and items from all of the most popular Nintendo properties, including Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Pokemon, and more. This time, however, Super Smash Bros. Brawl will also include characters from non-Nintendo franchises. The first of the newly confirmed characters is Solid Snake, protagonist in Konami's Metal Gear Solid series. Although not confirmed, there are many rumors circulating that Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog will also appear in the game. It is yet to be seen whether any additional third party characters will appear in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Judging from the success of the previous two games in the franchise, Super Smash Bros. Brawl will be a must have game for the Nintendo Wii.
